If a defect in our installation shows up within the warranty period, we come back and fix it. No runaround, no excuses. We also pull the required permits so your work gets a third-party inspection from the town.

"They finished the driveway in two days and it looked exactly like what they showed me in the estimate. The crew was on time both days, cleaned up everything, and the drainage is noticeably better than my old slab. No more puddles near the garage."
Brian T., Hartford, CT - Concrete driveway building
"We wanted a stamped patio that looked like flagstone but did not cost a fortune. They walked me through the pattern and color options, pulled the permit themselves, and the finished patio looks fantastic. First summer cookout on it was worth every penny."
Lisa M., Glastonbury, CT - Stamped concrete services
"Had a section of concrete footings poured for a new deck addition. They showed up on the scheduled date, got it done in a day, and the inspector approved it with no issues. Honest pricing, no surprises on the bill."
Dave K., South Windsor, CT - Concrete footings

Connecticut averages 20 to 30 freeze-thaw cycles each winter, which is the primary reason concrete cracks and heaves in this region. A properly mixed, air-entrained concrete slab with an adequate gravel base handles these cycles far better than a slab cut short on base prep.
Concrete typically outlasts asphalt in New England climates - a well-built concrete driveway lasts 30 to 50 years versus 20 to 30 for asphalt. Asphalt needs periodic resurfacing and is softened by summer heat, while concrete stays rigid year-round. Learn more from the Portland Cement Association.
Most driveway replacements, new patio construction above a certain size, and any slab connected to a public right-of-way require a permit from the Town of Manchester Building Department. Pulling the permit means the work gets inspected - which protects you if problems arise later.
Late April through mid-October is the reliable window for concrete work in Manchester. Concrete poured in temperatures below 40 degrees risks permanent weakness before it cures. Spring books up fast - contacting a contractor in late winter gives you the best shot at your preferred timing.
The compacted gravel base beneath a slab is what keeps it stable as the ground shifts through Connecticut winters. A thin or poorly compacted base is the leading cause of early cracking and heaving - yet it is invisible once the concrete is poured. Ask any contractor specifically how deep and how thick their base preparation will be.
Small hairline cracks can sometimes be sealed to slow further damage. But cracks wide enough to fit a pencil, sections that have heaved, or widespread surface flaking usually mean the base underneath has shifted - and patching will not fix that. A contractor can assess whether repair or full replacement is the better long-term value.

Curing is the process by which concrete gains strength after it is poured. Concrete reaches about 70 percent of its strength in the first seven days, but continues hardening for 28 days. Walking on it too soon leaves marks; driving on it too soon can crack the slab permanently.
Yes - and especially in New England. A penetrating concrete sealer blocks water from soaking into the slab and then freezing. It also slows down the salt damage from road chemicals tracked onto your surface. Most contractors recommend resealing every two to three years. Concrete Network has a good guide on sealer types.
Ask each contractor to specify the gravel base depth, concrete thickness, PSI mix, and whether sealing and cleanup are included. A lower quote that skips base prep or uses thinner concrete will cost you more in repairs within a few years than the slightly higher quote done correctly.

Manchester is a mid-sized Connecticut city of about 60,000 residents, located just east of Hartford off Interstate 84. A large share of the city's housing was built before 1970 - many homes date back to the early 1900s when Manchester was a busy mill town anchored by the Cheney Brothers Silk Mills, one of the largest silk manufacturers in United States history. That historic mill complex and many of the worker housing blocks it built are still standing today and are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Outside the older town center, Manchester has large stretches of postwar suburban neighborhoods - ranch-style homes, Cape Cods, and split-levels built in the 1950s through 1970s. These homes are now 50 to 70 years old and entering a heavy maintenance phase. Driveways and walkways poured during that era were often installed without the deep gravel base prep now standard in cold climates. Areas near Wickham Park on the eastern side of town and the neighborhoods around the Buckland Hills shopping area in the north are typical of this era of development. Manchester also gets about 45 inches of snow per year, and the freeze-thaw cycles from November through March are hard on concrete - cracks that look small in fall can open significantly by spring. We work on homes across all of Manchester, from the older two- and three-family houses near the town center to the postwar ranch homes in the outer neighborhoods.
